"You can't build a
reputation on what you could have done..."
The Lead/Deadwood Diggers Youth Wrestling Club began way before I can remember. We are a group of volunteer coaches and board members that love the sport of wrestling and want to provide an opportunity for our kids to be the best wrestlers they can be. Wrestling teaches kids that nothing comes easy, you have to work at it!
As a club we are getting the younger generation ready for the middle school and high school wrestling programs. Only just a few years ago the Lead/Deadwood High School Wrestling program was one to be feared! With the changes happening within our community we lost many of our wrestlers and our school had to make a tough decision to co-op with the Spearfish Wrestling program. By participating in the co-op with Spearfish our wrestlers that didn't want to give up the sport were able to continue their wrestling careers!
With the help of many determined people in the Diggers Youth Wrestling Club and the School Administration, we have built up the interest in the sport of wrestling again in our schools! During the 2013/2014 school year, we were able to bring back a great wrestling team to the Lead/Deadwood School District! Head Coach, John Thayer, worked wonders with our high school kids and they had a great first year!
Since then we have been building up our Middle School and High School team! We now have a full team at all age levels! Coach V has done a great job at building our wrestling program back up!
