PARENT's, Please Read!
Welcome....whether it is your first year or if you are a "seasoned" parent we are happy that you have joined us!! As with all clubs there are a few rules that need to be followed.
PRACTICES - Please keep talking to a whisper during practice!!!!!!!
We let parents watch during practice so you can help them continue practicing at home. Siblings are welcome but need to remain quiet, seated and off of the mats during practice. (distractions make practices very difficult)
Please supervise your children during practice and tournaments. Also encourage respect of our facilities as well as other tournament locations. Behavior problems could result in not being able to attend practices. Siblings need to remain seated and to the sides of the mats during practice.
Wrestlers will be expected to wear proper workout attire (wrestling shoes, t-shirt, workout shorts & headgear). Jeans or anything else with zippers or other damaging parts will not be allowed.
With the exception of water bottles . . .NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS WILL BE ALLOWED AT PRACTICES!
OUR TOURNAMENT: (January 21, 201 7) You will be expected to help at our tournament. Sign-up sheets will be sent out at a later date. If everyone would step up and take on one job it makes it easier to have a successful tournament. Please do your part.
ALL TOURNAMENTS: Please wear school colors or Digger gear so we look like a club! Please have the wrestlers wear this year’s shirt so we can always find them!!!
We ask that you sit with the club. This is for many reasons so thanks for doing so. One of our board members will always be there bright and early to set up our area with our banner so just look for the banner and our blankets, etc. and find a place to get comfortable for the day! We recommend you bring stadium seats or blankets to save your seats. We have a large group again this year so we will need to adjust accordingly to make sure we have enough room to sit together!!!
Bring snacks for the kids/wrestlers! There is always a concession stand available and we ask that you do spend some money there as it is usually their money-maker; however it tends to get spendy after a while so bringing a few extra munchies each time from home will help with that. Healthy choices for your wrestler will also help him/her feel better while wrestling too!
WRESTLERS - We expect the wrestlers to sit with the club at all times. They should not be running around the facilities. If they need to go to the concession stand or restroom that is understandable, however they should come back as soon as they are done and not hanging around in the hallways, etc. We expect the kids to be respectful to all of the coaches, referees and all other wrestlers. If they are not, you will be notified and expected to fix the issue.
Singlets - Your child will be issued a singlet. If any singlet is damaged or lost, you will be responsible for the replacement costs ($70.00). You will need to return the singlet at the year-end party. Please take time to read the washing & drying instructions when you receive the singlet.
Your wrestlers will need to wear warm-up shorts or sweatpants, etc. when they are not actually wrestling on the mat. This saves the singlets from additional wear on the backside! Kids tend to sit wherever and this will snag the bottoms just like a swimsuit does when you sit on a concrete floor!!! If your wrestler does not have a pair of shorts when they arrive a pair will be given to them to wear for the day (keep in mind I have been told these shorts are “not cool” so please bring your own)!
Wrestling Shoes – The wrestling shoes are not to be worn outside. If for some reason your wrestler needs to go outside, they need to put their other shoes back on. If you borrowed shoes from this club this year, please remember to return them so someone else can use them next year!
Parents – You are responsible for your wrestler. Please teach them how to read the bracket sheets and to listen to the tournament announcer. If you want your wrestler to attend a tournament and you are unable to attend, you must make arrangements for someone else to be responsible for your child. The coaches and board members cannot be responsible for your wrestler.
You ARE allowed to take photos and videos of the wrestlers! Please respect others around you to make sure you are not blocking anyone else. Parents are NOT allowed to be matside at anytime! This is for the coaches and wrestlers ONLY. Do NOT argue or confront the referees or tournament hosts. If you have a problem, please discuss it with one of our coaches.
Our Coaches – We have approximately 55 kids this year! YAY!!! With that being said, we do NOT have 55 coaches. Our coaches do a fabulous job trying to get to every match our kids have, however; if there is more than one match going on at a time your child may not always have a coach matside. Please don’t blame the coaches, they are trying their best. If it seems they are missing your child please let us know as we just need to point it out to them.
Our wrestling season can be very time consuming. Please thank our coaches for their extra efforts in helping our kids be the best wrestlers they can be!
